Where is it?

Midway between the beautiful beaches of San Carlos and the incredible Copper Canyon, Alamos is the most northern of Mexico's colonial cities. Located in the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains, Alamos is less than 500 miles from Tucson, Arizona. The last 40 miles to Alamos is an excellent 2 lane paved road.

It can easily be reached by car from the border in 7 hours, by bus (air conditioned coaches from Tucson or Nogales - direct), by commercial flights at Ciudad Obregon (just over an hour from Alamos) or Los Mochis (2.5 hours from Alamos), or by private aircraft which can land in Alamos.

How to get there?

Automobile: Take Mexico's International Highway 15 south from Nogales, Arizona or north from Mazatlan, Sinaloa to Navojoa. This is a well-maintained toll road with 4-lanes, regular gas stations, and vending machines and fairly clean restrooms at all toll booths. In Navojoa, at the well-marked highway sign to Alamos next to the VH market and north of the Volkswagon dealership, turn east and drive 35 miles. This highway (2-lane) will lead right to the center of Alamos. Hacienda de Los Santos is two blocks beyond the Plaza and church.

Bus: You may opt for this traditional mode of transportation in Mexico (and by far most economical). The TBC line now has service direct to Tucson where it is located on 6th Avenue. To save a little time many people choose to use a shuttle service to Nogales, AZ, cross the border by foot, then catch a cab to the TBC station in Nogales, Sonora. This will cost a little more, but can potentially take 2 or 3 hours off what is already a long trip.

Commercial Airlines: The closest commercial airport to Alamos is located in Ciudad Obregon, Sonora. Also, flights are available through Phoenix on AeroMexico, with a stop in Hermosillo and final stop at Ciudad Obregon. More than 70 flights a day are available to Cabo San Lucas from the U.S., with connecting flights to Ciudad Obregon. Taxis are available from the Ciudad Obregon Airport and many Hacienda de los Santos packages include round-trip transportation in a hotel van with a bilingual driver. Budget Rent-A-Car is available and local taxis also. Most guests find they do not have a need for a car after arriving in Alamos. Transportation to and from the Alamos Airport (MM-45) is at no charge, providing the resort has been notified. Hangar space is offered complimentary in the Hacienda de los Santos hangar on a "first come" basis to single engine aircraft.

From NY/East Coast & Chicago/Mid-west, travel non-stop to Mexico City and then on Aeromexico to Ciudad Obregon.  Alternatives include flying to Phoenix on America West and then non-stop to Guaymas Airport or Hermosillo & Ciudad Obregon Airports.

From West Coast, travel through Hermosillo to Ciudad Obregon.  Hotel is 75 minutes from airport and transfers are available.

Alamos has a new 5,000' paved runway which can accommodate turbo-prop and jet aircraft.  Newly expanded paved parking areas can accommodate more than 50 aircraft and hangar parking is available for single engine, piston aircraft.   The Alamos Airport is secure with military and other security present 24/7
